Abstract

Different leadership styles have been thoroughly studied in various situations over the past three decades. All this accumulated knowledge seems not to mask the growing interest in strategic leadership. Leadership style of organizations forms and impacts the strategies at both individual and organizational levels. Effective leadership has positive impacts on both firm performance and competitiveness. Integrating strategy and leadership is a critical factor for the future of firms. Strategic leadership is regarded as an effective and crucial management tool which helps firms in operating successfully in highly competitive market conditions. With this study we dwell into the research that has aggregated in terms of strategic leadership styles. Literature on strategic leadership highlights certain findings that point toward a common understanding, but nevertheless there are many areas which are left less than clear. An in-depth discussion of the major approaches and a review of contemporary challenges facing strategic leaders of today are presented and directions for future research are presented.

Communication in IT projects is a complex process that involve several iterations before understanding is achieved. You can communicate using words, symbols, pictures, messages and other elements. In this paper we have focused our attention on the communication in complex projects by program code based on the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and design patterns.

LOGISTICS INFORMATION SYSTEMS IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF FLOUR IN NIGERIA

Abstract

This study investigated logistics information systems in the distribution of flour in Nigeria. A case study design was used and 50 staff of Honeywell Flour Mill was sampled for the study. Data generated through questionnaire were analysed using correlation and regression analysis. The findings of the study revealed that logistic information systems such as e-commerce, interactive telephone systems and electronic data interchange positively correlated with distribution of flour in Honeywell Flour Mill. Finding also deduced that e-commerce, interactive telephone systems and electronic data interchange jointly and positively contribute to the distribution of flour in Honeywell Flour Mill in Nigeria (R=.935; Adj. R2= .642; F(3,47)=14.739; p<.05). The study therefore recommended that Honeywell Flour Mill should upgrade their logistic information systems to computer-to-computer communication of business transactions and documents, as well adopt new technology such as, tracking-and-tracing systems (Barcode-scanning for packages and palettes), tracking vehicles with Global Positioning System (GPS), measuring vehicle performance with ‘black boxes’ (containing logistic data) and Automatic Equipment Identification (AEI) into their systems.

Abstract

This paper analyzes Twitter as an information source for popular science and science communication, spreading information to professionals and students of the area and lay people, patients and their families. For such, we use as theoretical framework a live tweeted surgery. Through this research, we understand that Twitter needs to be more explored, updated and corrected to be considered an information source. Still, we can see this paper as an analysis of the theme, which needs further investigation. There are still many questions that need to be answered so that hospitals and physicians can make well based decisions on using or not social media.

Abstract

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) is a form of explicit knowledge at the technical level. SOP documents are very important because they are regulating the business process in an organization. SOP documents are something very necessary, but can not be used easily anytime and anywhere whenever needed. The knowledge contained in the SOP document is a precious asset for an organization, but it is not yet managed well. This research aimed to develop a knowledge management system based on ontology and semantic network that could display knowledge of SOP documents, navigate between knowledge visually, and manage SOP knowledge. This system was called SOP Navigator. Ontologies were used to capture the relationship between knowledge and a semantic network was used to display a representation of knowledge. SOP documents that used in this study is the SOP documents for technical field of information technology, the academic process of Graduate School, and personnel administration. The knowledge contained in the SOP document codified in the semantic network model in the form of nodes that related. Nodes and relationships could have different properties according to their knowledge. Modelling stored in a graph database that allows users to managed SOP data. SOP Navigator was implemented using the Ruby programming language, Sinatra web framework, and Neo4j graph database.

Abstract

The primary focus of this study is to understand the effects of organizational cultures of international tourist hotels in Taiwan on organizational performance. This study is conducted on the basis of existing data collected by domestic and overseas scholars, and the Meta Analysis method is applied for the analysis. The results show that the organizational cultures of international hotels in Taiwan have significantly positive effect on organizational performance.
